Each day begins with morning circle-- an opportunity for students to come together in a group for songs and introductions to new materials. After circle, students have 2 1/2 hours of uninterrupted, self-directed choice time. During this work cycle, students may prepare their own snacks, explore their creativity, or work within the classroom in areas including math, language, science, and geography. Afterwards, we have another circle time in Spanish, followed by lunch and more time outside.
Once a week we have cooking day, which is an opportunity for students to prepare a more elaborate recipe involving a multi-step process.
A storyteller comes twice per month to share books, felt board stories, songs, and puppet shows.
